Home Gym Workout Routine – Part III (Basic Equipment)
In this installment of the Home Gym Workout Routine, we’re going to discuss the most important piece of home gym equipment that you’ll absolutely need to get the most out of your muscle workouts. I realize that everyone’s budget is different, especially in these tough economic times. That’s why I’m going to go through a few varieties of this equipment that will help you reach your exercise goals.
Basics
At a bar minimum I think every person who wants to develop a home gym workout routine should absolutely have a basic set of dumbbells. Dumbbells are really the most versatile piece of fitness equipment out there, so many different exercises can be performed. They come in a variety of styles, weights, and sizes. You can have fixed weight dumbbells, or adjustable dumbbells. I prefer the adjustable dumbbells since they take up a lot less space. The only downside is it takes a few seconds to swap weight around, but depending on your budget there are some pretty slick dumbbell systems in the market today that make adjusting the weight a snap. Here are a few options for dumbbells sets:
If you can afford them, I would highly recommend going with these. These block style dumbbells offer the ability to quickly change weights and are extremely compact and easy to store. Block style dumbbells come in a variety of weight capacities and brands. Generally the more weight capacity, the more expensive. This particular set made by PowerBlock are adjustable between 3-24lbs in 3lb increments. They also come with a 15-year warranty, so you know you aren’t going to wear these babies out. This set goes for $184.99, click here to get more info.
