When one thinks of fitness and exercise options, many things came come to mind.  There are many different options out there to suit an individual’s personal needs and preferences.  Whether it’s joining a gym, or working out at home, it really depends on personal preference and whatever it takes to motivate you to continue to work hard to achieve your fitness goals.

Many people prefer to do their muscle workout in a gym.  There can be many benefits of exercising in a gym – lots of different types of fitness equipment, social aspects (making friends, finding workout partners, etc), personal trainers to guide you through your exercises, the list can go on and on.  However, some of these benefits can also have negative effects – spending too much time talking/staring and not enough time focusing on your muscle workout, spending too much money on personal trainers, and waiting to use specific fitness equipment.  There’s nothing I hate more than going to the gym and having to sit around while I wait for the weight benches or squat racks!

In comes a great alternative…  working out from home!  Some benefits of developing and performing a home gym workout routine are – no waiting around for fitness equipment, no getting annoyed or creeped out by people staring at you (especially for women), you can workout anytime day or night, and you’re in the comfort of your own home – no driving!  However, there are also some drawbacks to doing a home gym workout routine – if something breaks you have to cover repair/replacement costs, it can be harder to motivate yourself to get out to the garage/shed/spare bedroom to do your home gym workout routine, some home fitness equipment can take up quite a bit of space, and if sometimes there can be a lack of variety of exercises to perform.

Fear not my friends, all of these negative aspects of a home gym workout routine can be easily overcome as long as you are armed with the correct information and you go into the planning stages with as much information as possible.  That’s what I’m here for, I’ve put together a few tips that I’ve learned over the years to help keep your muscle workout routines exciting and fresh, all from the comfort of your very own home.  Stay tuned for Part II
